About

The Heartland Branch of QDMA was started in 2008, with aspirations to get more individuals in the great states of Nebraska & Iowa involved in helping to prolong our hunting heritage, as well as give back to our environment while promoting ethics in the sport of hunting.  Years go by, and members come and go, but one thing remains the same, the passion this group has for everything whitetail. If you constantly find yourself reading, asking questions, studying or wondering about what to plant, where to hang a stand, what supplements to use, how many deer should my property hold or just how to hunt, then search no further. Come join us, we would love to have you, and bring a buddy, or even better bring a kid along with you, because the decisions we make today, will be living with them tomorrow.

I am currently attending UNO for a master in Geography and computer mapping. I wanted to relate to Nebraska wildlife for my thesis. I am uncertain on a particular topic and a professor suggested I contact someone from the state for ideas and possible assistance and support. I wanted to see if you had any ideas such as something with wildlife populations or something with wildlife or crp distribution in the state. Im ok with elk, mountain lion, sheep or anything that would possibly help promote conservation. The overall thesis needs to be geography or GIS related. Thanks in advance for your assistance.

Any suggestions or questions please let me know.

There’s a professor at Concordia College in Seward, NE by the name of Joel Helmer, Ph.D. He’s done some very interesting work on mapping the densities and distribution of P&Y and B&C deer throughout the U.S.

Hope that helps, and good luck!
